Welcome to The Foundations of Psychopomp Guest Lecture Series

This month we honored to welcome Fotoula Adrimi.

Fotoula will share teachings from her ancient Greek shamanic tradition, which to her knowledge have never been shared before outside Greek shamanic families. In the first part of the presentation, we will establish the tree of life in our altar, for each person. This is the umbilical cord that connects the shaman to the Great Mystery and supports this deep work. You can keep this on your altar as a permanent feature. In the second part of the evening, Fotoula will share teachings of how you can work in the underworld, and bring healing to your client through psychopomping of the stuck ancestors.

We will meet the spirits of this ceremony and share how to work with them.

What to bring:

  • People can create a sacred space, smudge, build their altar, etc
  • Have their drum and rattle with them,
  • A glass of water and offerings for the ancestors of the land to leave out in nature after the workshop (offerings include: nuts, seeds, fruits, water, juniper and local herbs placed on the altar during the ceremony)

For the tree of life

  • Find a stick or can also be stone or crystal tree, of about 25cm, which you keep erect in a small earth pot, on a permanent basis on your altar. Or you can erect it by putting it in an empty pot and surrounding it with small stones or crystals. This will be your tree of life. An erect stone or crystal etc, also does the job.
  • A thin ribbon (red for women, white for men, or any other color you are guided is ok too)

For the underworld healing:

  • Two threads: one red, one white, intertwined, about a meter long.
  • Scissors
  • Dough ball, the size of your fist. If you use rice flour, it does not stick much.
  • 3 silver metal coins.
  • A biscuit.
  • Two small plates.
  • Two small stones: a black stone and a white stone.
  • One small crystal about 1-2 cm long, or whatever you have.

For the integration:

Your family tree or a list of all the ancestors you remember. Don’t worry if you don’t know them all. If you are adopted, bring both families.
