Monthly Ancestor Circle

Everyone has loving and wise ancestors, and by reaching out for their support we access tremendous vitality for personal and family healing. In addition to supporting repairs with living family, our ancestors encourage healthy self-esteem and help us to clarify our destiny, relationships, and work in the world. This monthly ritual aims to support participants to continue to work safely and directly with family ancestors, both helpful guides and the troubled dead in need of assistance.

Our time together includes direct visioning / journey work with the ancestors, forgiveness practices, song, prayer, heart-centered group dialogue, and other inclusive types of ritual.

Pre-requisites for attending are to have participated in the Ancestors Intensive or to have done personal sessions with either myself or my mentor Daniel Foor, PhD ( that included basic skills for this type of ancestor work.

New Moon Ritual and Despacho

I’ve been hosting monthly new moon depachos for four years now based upon some wisdom imparted to me in a dream. What I have witnessed in these special gatherings of prayers is our unique human ability to transform our grief, doubt, worry, gratitude, hopes, fears, and love in a way that is palpable, and transformative.  Indeed, our teachers in Peru and Ecuador understand that the cosmology and symbols of their culture are not the same as ours, and want us to share the intent of the despacho.

Despacho describes the Andean practice of making offerings to the mountains (apus), Mother Earth (Pachamama), and other spirits of nature in reciprocity, reverence, and thanksgiving. A despacho is an act of love and a reminder of the connections we share with all beings, elements, spirits, and sacred places. At the deepest level, it is an opportunity to enter into the essential unity of all things, the living energy of the universe.

The ceremony brings participants into alignment with their personal intent, the group intent, and gratitude to the earth, which supports us in all our endeavors. It also brings participants into internal alignment with the “three bands:” physical (yankay), feeling and heart (munay), and spirit, or energetic wisdom (yachay). (The alignment of these bands is comparable to alignment of the seven chakras or the fifteen chakras of other cultural frameworks.) Finally, the despacho harmonizes the community through the sharing of coco leaves and gifts of stones, all of which strengthen the luminous fibers that connect us all.
