who is this course for?

I welcome all who feel they are adrift in a sea of disempowerment, disenfranchised by power over structures which lodge in the soft body. Wounding that is known, felt and experienced directly or indirectly, the ancient wounding, unknown, and the wounding which turns us against our own sovereignty.

This course is for anyone seeking meaningful ways of understanding how patriarchy has created disharmony to our Holy Earth and all of Earth’s inhabitants through the wisdom of the ancient mothers. For those who bring heart awareness, presence and willingness to explore the ways of restorative healing in connection with the wider field of relations, seen and unseen.

This is a course also for those who want to disarm the cultural patriarchal toxin personally through self-reflection and commitment to personal inner work in personal and community spaces through deeply embodied ritual and inner visioning. For those who are willing to commit to dismantling the effects of patriarchy through walking in an alignment organized around “a culture of love and mutuality.” *

So much of what is happening in the world around us can be tracked down through an initial cultural wound of the emergence of patriarchal systems. What is known as the mother wound grows itself as a product of the patriarchal systems that have existed for the past 5000 years. In these environments, there is a felt knowing of unequal distribution of authority, men are in power, women and children are subordinates. Through this, the very source of how we are brought into the world, our Ancestral Mothers, were systemically stripped of all majesty. Enslaved, related to property, a common marketplace status, this wound left with it a legacy of the emergence of other cultural wounds: war, poverty, caste systems, racism, sexism, and earth disconnection. As patriarchy became institutionalized it relegated those who do not hold power to end fighting amongst themselves and attempting to reclaim their power through their children as our ancestral mothers struggled to find some balance of the sovereignty they once knew. Here we find the Mother Wound.

Transforming and transmuting patriarchy allows us to liberate the entanglements with our mother wound in order to fully self-actualize our soul’s evolution.

What We Will Do

Through this course we will embark on a transformational journey to sources of matrilineal wisdom as well as the collective where we will:

  • Explore what patriarchy is, how it manifests and the ways patriarchy has created felt burdens in personal experiences, in present life, and on a designated ancestral lineage.
  • Develop a personal relationship with a matrilineal spirit helper, an eternal child, and also an elevated blood lineage ancestor. These guides inform the processes of retrieving vital soul essence and transmuting the burdens of patriarchy into a source of empowerment and sovereignty.
  • Hold space for transmuting the cultural toxins of patriarchy through somatic awareness and through ritual practices.
  • Receive initiation/attunement/empowerments for personal healing and re-connection through embodied ritual.
  • Journey as a collective to perform a larger world healing around the cultural wounds of patriarchy.

what you will discover in the course

  • 12 pre-recorded lessons, released each week on Wednesday afternoons 5:00pm EST. Each lesson is self-directed, consists of a pre-recorded video which will share wisdom with a guided experientail practice. Also in the lesson will be journaling prompts and additional reading resources to deepen your understanding.
  • 13 Live 60 Minute Zoom calls where we will gather as a community. The first one is on July 25th at 3pm Eastern as our opening ritual call and subsequent calls will every Monday at 3pm Eastern. (Integration weeks built in). In this space we will gather for deeper connection to the work at hand, leave spaciousness for questions and drop into ritual space to further the work as a community.
  • Private connection space. This is the space where we will gather virtually to deepen our connection with the work and each other. There will be a feed to ask questions about content, connect with other participants, and share experiences as you navigate through the material. No public social media or additional login is required.
  • Q & A We’ll have dedicated space for any questions that arise as you delve into the work and if relevant and agreed to share with the group, they will be made anonymous, compiled and shared as a resource for garnering collective wisdom. Additionally, a private Facebook page will be created for group support relevant to course content.

Your Instructor

Shannon Willis, M.Ed is dedicated animist and ritualist, helping others achieve clarity, connection and rootedness through the exploration of liminal landscapes of the seen and unseen. Through heart-centered ritual aimed at re-establishing balance and personal sovereignty, and through deeping the pathways of connection within the wider web of relations, her work is found at the intersection of dream midwifery, oracular mediumship, ritual and ancestral reverence.

For over 30 years she has committed her life to partnership with others in transforming trauma and cultural wounding for both the living and the dead. She has a Masters degree in Professional Leadership and Counseling with a focus in Jungian and Gestalt modalities, is the founder of Red Earth Healing, a student of Yoruba culture as an initiate of Ọbàtálá, and Ọ̀ṣun, in the lineage of Olúwo Fálolú Adésànyà Awoyadé from Òdè Rẹ́mọ. making pilgrimages to work with elders in West Africa. She is a devotee of Nepali shamanism under the tutelage of Bhola Nath Banstola and other diverse indigenous paths of her ancestors. She is a certified practitioner and teacher of Dr. Daniel Foor’s Ancestral Lineage Healing method.

She lives on the historic lands of the Creek/Muskogee Peoples in Athen, Ga. Her recent and older people of blood and bone hail from the British Isles, France, West Africa and Cherokee and Kaskaskia/Illini nations.

As we are all affected by it, It applies to everyone, and because of this, with heartfelt enthusiasm, I offer this course to everyone regardless of gender in earnest hope of bringing clarity and healing for personal and collective harmony.

“Culture of love and mutuality” is a concept coined by bell hooks, acclaimed feminist theorist, She explains that patriarchy is organized around domination and power, whereas feminism is organized around a culture of love and mutuality.

Yes, this course is designed to address a blood lineage Ancestral line which has the most significant impact to you as it relates to patriarchal wounding. This can be a lineage that you have previously brought to wellness through the Ancestral Medicine lineage healing approach, or one you have yet to address.

The course starts on July 25th, 2022 with the opening ritual at 3pm Eastern. The first lesson will be released on July 27th. The course ends on Monday, November 3rd, 2022 with the last Zoom community call.

There are 13 calls and 12 lessons full of potent content throughout the course. Having offered this both in person and online, we discovered that it is beneficial to take a breather from time to time to allow for integration and resourcing. Scheduled breaks will be the week of August 22nd and September 26th-October 9th.
